American Airlines US Airways Merger

Because of our involvement in the aerospace industry with gas turbine hardfacing & welding wire, we found the American Airlines US Airways Merger to be quite interesting and exciting:

American Airlines and US Airways announced that the board of directors of both companies approved a merger agreement in which the two airlines will combine to create one premier, global carrier. The combined airline will operate under the American Airlines name. The equity of the merger has a value of approximately $11 billion.

The merger ensued with more than 600 firm orders of new mainline aircraft. This includes 517 narrowbody aircraft and 90 widebody international aircraft. Airbus and Boeing will contribute to the new aircraft with the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330. There will be more than 6,700 daily flights to 336 destinations in 56 countries.
